US News Channel Went To Wrong City To Report On COP26 Climate Conference

People on Twitter are ridiculing a CNN news anchor who went to the 'wrong' city to report on the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).

Wolf Blitzer (incredible name, btw) told his followers that he'd got to the Scottish city where he would be reporting on the event for the US-based TV channel.

Taking to Twitter, Wolf wrote: "I'm now reporting from Edinburgh in Scotland where 20,000 world leaders and delegates have gathered for the COP26 Climate Summit.

"COP, by the way, stands for 'Conference of the Parties.' It's the 26th time they have gathered to discuss and take action on this critical issue."

In response to the tweet, one person very politely explained: "You are an exceptional news anchor, your hosting of the American elections since 2004 proves this, however I wish to say (without any disrepect) that you are not living up to your reputation.

The summit is being held in Glasgow, 39 miles due west of your current location."

Another added: "Forgive me if I get my information from a news organization that managed to go to the right city." Buuuuurn.

A third commented: "Hey. Dude. Cool backdrop and everything, but you are in the WRONG city. The conference is in *Glasgow*, not *Edinburgh*."

Someone else said: "You're in the wrong city, dude! (COP26 is in Glasgow, on the other side of the country. Distances are deceptive: from where you're sitting it's about a two hour drive, or 45 minutes by train then a 20 minute taxi ride.)"

Others took the time to explain that it was their belief that many reporters are setting up camp in Edinburgh because Glasgow is too busy to accommodate everyone.

Someone said: "Glasgow would not be able to host the entire world media on its own."

Another defended him, adding: "To be fair to Wolf, he said he is reporting from Edinburgh (which he is) and that 20,000 delegates are in Scotland for COP which they are. Just clunky wording. He's one of the good ones, no pile on needed."

In agreement with the previous comment, one Twitter user said: "To be honest I think he is just generically talking about the world leaders coming to Scotland rather than specifically to Edinburgh. I'm sure he knows the bulk of the conference is in Glasgow."
