Actor Vin Diesel has confirmed the fourth Chronicles of Riddick film is one step closer to being ready, having said on Instagram that the latest script for the film 'comes in next week'.

Riddick shared a short clip at the end of last week as he welcomed the weekend in, showing he had that Friday feeling.

"I don't know how we've been quarantined, but we have," he said.

"And yet Friday arriving in this house is like [singing], 'It's Friday then it's Saturday and Sunday! Friday then it's Saturday and Sunday!'"

What gave him so much excitement, you may ask? Well, it's because he'd found out the new script for the forthcoming Chronicles of Riddick: Furya would be ready in a matter of days.

The caption for the video read: "Happy Furyan Friday... The latest Chronicles of Riddick script comes in next week. GRRR!"

The fourth film of the franchise, Riddick 4: Furya has been in the works for some time now, with its predecessor, Riddick, hitting cinemas in 2013.

Vin Diesel showed us the first draft back in July.

Vin Diesel announced in January 2014 that Universal wished to develop another film, saying on Facebook that the project would be titled Furya and will have an R rating.

Then, in July 2019 the actor excitedly told fans that he'd been sent the first script for the sequel, showing off the physical copy he'd been sent in an Instagram video.

"That's a birthday present I got that I think you all would appreciate," he said.

"Riddick 4 script - this is exciting."

We still don't have a release date for film, but by the sounds of things, the process is moving along nicely.

In the meantime, you'll just have to get excited to see the actor in F9: The Fast Saga, although admittedly the release date for that has been pushed back to next year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The film sees former WWE star John Cena join the cast as the villain - and brother of Vin Diesel's lead character Dom Toretto.

The success of the franchise - which has been running for 20 years - is something that Vin Diesel is grateful for.

He told LADbible earlier this year: "If you'd have told me after the first film all those years ago that we'd be sat here talking about Fast 9, I'd have thought you'd gone insane.

"It's become a real family and that's the cast but it's also the fans. There's so much love for it and we're all just blown away by that."
