The woman who was caught cheating on her boyfriend as part of a reality TV show has explained that she thought their relationship was over.

Temptation Island contestant Ashley Howland said that after her boyfriend Casey told her he loved her but would be OK if she were to leave him, she believed they were no longer an item.

This resulted in Ashley then moving forward with another member of the cast called Ben who she 'had a little crush on' which led to Casey watching the pair get up close and personal. Awkward.

If you haven't already seen, the premise of the show is that troubled couples are dumped in Hawaii, separated from each other and surrounded by hot single people of the opposite sex. What could go wrong, eh?

The episodes originally aired over in the States back in 2019 but like many shows (for example MAFS) it's made its way to the UK and is currently on E4.

During one part of the show, Casey can be seen with his jaw literally dropped as he and a bunch of contestants watch on as his other half shacks up with Ben in bed.

But Ashley spoke to Talk Nerdy With Us where she told her side of the story. During the chat the interviewer said: "So in episode 5, you see the clip at your bonfire of Casey saying that he loves you but he'd be okay if you were to ever leave him."

They then asked whether this comment led her to feel more comfortable pursuing other flings or if she just developed feelings for Ben.

She replied: "I think that when I first heard Casey say that, I thought our relationship was over, and that was the last straw for me, because all of the bonfires I was seeing were really upsetting me.

"And I know that I wasn't doing anything remotely close to what Casey was doing. I know that I did get the lap dancers from both Ben and Deac but I did that because I was upset. That's the only reason. I was upset with him and I was like, 'Well, if that's how he's gonna play it, I'm gonna play it like that too.'

"But then as it continued on, I wasn't really diving in until I heard Casey say that and then that's when I was like, 'Okay, well, I do have a little crush on Ben so I'm just going to move forward with it and focus more on what I want to do rather than thinking about what Casey's doing all the time'."

Temptation Island airs on E4 on Sundays and Mondays at 10pm in the UK.
