Few thought he'd pocket as much as he did after he used lifelines in his first two questions

A contestant on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? stunned viewers after getting off to a terrible start.

Conor Kim did not look likely to go far when he used a lifeline on the first question, which asked which Keith is a member of The Rolling Stones.

Astonishingly, the legal assistant was torn between Keith Chegwin and Keith Richards, and host Jeremy Clarkson said Conor had made himself 'look like an idiot'.

He added: "You'll be remembered for a very, very long time."

Clarkson couldn't believe the question had Conor stumped.

Conor eventually progressed after using the relatively new 'Ask the Host' lifeline, but his inauspicious start only got worse from there when he was stumped by the £200 question: "Which of these phrases is an old-fashioned, polite way of saying 'going to the toilet'?"

His options were as follows: 'Beating around the bush', 'Spending a penny', 'Letting off steam', and 'Hitting the sack'.

Clarkson - along with viewers at home - couldn't believe the question had Conor reaching for his 50/50:

But from there Conor somehow managed to put a run together, defying expectations to reach the £250,000 question, at which point he decided to take the £125,000 he had earned.

Clarkson said: "That's fine, I don't blame you. What can I say? You have been extremely memorable, I'm absolutely delighted you are leaving here with £125k."

Many viewers on Twitter also had to eat humble pie after Conor's dramatic turnaround:

Now go spend some of that £125,000 on a Rolling Stones album, Conor. Please.
