You can bring the carnage to your living room

As we begin the first of probably many meaningless weekends, with fun beyond your four walls all but forbidden, Bongo's Bingo has stepped up to fill the void.

In lieu of heading out to pubs, bars and restaurants, Bongo's Bingo will be live streaming on Twitch 'to give you a laugh' during these 'hard times'.

Bingoers (is that the term?) will be able to get involved from their sofa, provided they have WiFi, a mobile phone, and a pen and paper.

Bingo used to be regarded as a leisure activity reserved for the elderly, but Bongo's Bingo came along in 2015 and flipped this all on its head.

The events pre-pandemic were held all across the UK and in almost 50 locations across the globe. For those who have never been to one, the nights still revolve around the game of bingo, but are enlivened by impromptu raves, knowingly naff prizes and copious amounts of booze.

The company describes its events as follows: "Bongo's Bingo is the definitive bingo experience.

"It's a crazy mix of traditional bingo, dance-offs, rave intervals, audience participation and countless magical moments, currently taking place in almost 50 locations around the world.

"Bongo's Bingo is a wild shared social extravaganza and a night of pure nostalgic escapism, with the chance to win iconic prizes from giant pink unicorns and Henry Hoovers to mobility scooters and karaoke machines at each and every show.

"It's immersive, inclusive and incredible. Everyone from 18 to 92 plays and parties together. There are no barriers and no limits.

"Quite simply, there's nothing else like it."

How exactly this 'wild shared social extravaganza' will translate to your living room is unclear, but fair play to them for trying to make the best of a bad situation. It's also unclear whether they'll be delivering giant pink unicorns and Henry Hoovers to winners. We can only hope.

To get involved, head to the Twitch stream at 8pm.

Let's all bring some positivity, support and fun to anyone who might find themselves in isolation as a result of the coronavirus spread. Need some entertainment? Join Isolation Nation: https://www.facebook.com/groups/coronasupport/
