YouTuber Jack Maynard has been taken off ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here just three days after the reality show started.

The Mirror reports it was nothing to do with his short time on the programme and instead because of a series of tweets he made years ago; with An ITV spokesperson telling the newspaper: "Due to circumstances outside camp Jack has had to withdraw from the show."

A representative for the YouTube star has issued a statement, which says: "In the last few days Jack Maynard has been the subject of a succession of media stories which, given his position as a contestant on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here - filmed in the Australian jungle, with no contact with the outside world, he has been unable to respond to.

"Since it's only fair that everyone should be aware of any allegations made against them and should also have the right to defend themselves, it was agreed that it would be better to bring him out of the show.

"Jack agrees with this decision which was made by his representatives and ITV and thanks everyone who has supported him in the show this far."

The posts have since been deleted but there were several which used the N word and he called people f*****s and retards. The Sun reported that the tweets were made between 2011 and 2013, where he replied to one critic: "hahaha shutup you f****t... By the way who hit you with a shovel?"

His representative told the newspaper: "Jack is ashamed of these tweets, many were deleted a long time ago.

"He would never use that language now and realises this kind of retaliatory, inflammatory, insulting language is completely unacceptable."

It's unclear whether ITV will jet someone into the Aussie jungle to replace the 22-year-old or whether they will soldier on without him.

The young star racked up more than 1.2 million followers on Youtube before he joined the I'm A Celebrity line-up. The Brighton local is also the younger brother to singer Conor Maynard, who has had a string of singles released in the UK.

When he signed up for the show, he told the Sun: "Hopefully I can do the Internet proud. You are respected by the younger generation and YouTube is changing the game. By doing this programme, it's going to be nice to show older viewers [what vloggers are all about]."
