Reality TV star Gemma Collins has inspired plenty of memes in her short moment in the spotlight, but she's just added another piece of material for fans to mock her with. She was at the Radio 1 Teen Awards to present the gong for Best TV Show (hint: it wasn't TOWIE).

She opened the envelope and announced the winner was Love Island, sparking the usual screams from fans, loud music playing and lights dancing across the stage. However, as all that commotion was going on, Ms Collins hilariously fell through a secret hole in the floor.

Plenty of screaming fans went silent and looked at the big screen to see what had happened, many with their hands over their mouth in shock.

The trapdoor was designed to allow the winners, Jamie Jewitt, Amber Davies, and Marcel Somerville, to come on stage with ease, but Gemma didn't see it and fell straight through. Full credit to her, she jumped back on her feet and told the crowd: "Oh my God, I am so sorry about that. This is live, this is what happens."

She later tweeted to her fans to assure everyone that she is indeed alright, saying: "Guys it's ok I'm alive I've always said I'm like Bridget Jones. don't worry everyone xx best and worst moment of my life."

They flocked to her account to wish her well.

Fans told her she was a 'queen', 'icon' and 'amazing', despite the funny mistake. She even compared herself to Madonna, who famously fell at the 2015 BRIT Awards when her cape was pulled from off stage while it was still attached to her.

Once she had collected herself, BBC Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw and singer Rita Ora asked if she was okay, and she told them: "Do you know what, Rita? Apart from stacking it on stage, I am having the best time of my life."

Gemma said it was one of the best and worst moments of her life considering it had been a major dream of hers to be on stage at Wembley Stadium, but insists she styled it out well.

Love Island star Marcel Somerville also tweeted about the funny incident, saying: "When you win best TV at the #R1TeenAwards and save #gemmacollins foot and hand from be crushed #herolife."
