Amanda Holden Mocked For Asking ISS Astronaut Tim Peake If He Brought A Piece Of Moon Back

Amanda Holden Mocked For Asking ISS Astronaut Tim Peake If He Brought A Piece Of Moon Back

He has never stepped foot on the moon.

The last time anyone from Earth was on the moon was in 1971 under the Apollo 17 mission; but there have been plenty of astronauts launched into space since then.

So, you can kind of understand the confusion that Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden got herself in when she was interviewing astronaut Tim Peake.

However, it's clear that she or her This Morning producers didn't do their research, because the TV star asked Mr Peake whether he was able to bring anything back from the moon.

Ms Holden didn't clock the difference between going to space and going to the moon, but Tim Peake didn't skip a beat and told her that he was firmly fixed to the International Space Station (ISS) and didn't get anywhere near it.

He's previously said that he's used to getting questions of all sorts and that's why he handled it like a true gentleman and didn't pay her out for the mistake. Mr Peake followed it up by saying a kid once asked if he was able to bring a souvenir back from space, but unfortunately pretty much everything on the ISS needs to stay on board for obvious reason.

People on social media were very quick to jump on the BGT star for her mistake.

She also copped a bit of flak from Piers Morgan, and responded to the criticism, saying: "Honestly. We howled in the break. #sofunny I'm a tit."

The mishap comes literally 24 hours after viewers lambasted her for her eating habits while she was being taught how to make the perfect pavlova.

She dipped her finger into a bowl of cream to get a taste (who doesn't?), but she she dropped some on the floor. Now, I think most of us could agree that if we weren't on national telly and at home we'd probably dive in, scoop it up and put it in our mouth.

Chef Yotam Ottolenghi didn't really seem fazed - probably because if your food tastes nice off the floor, it'll taste nice off a plate. Meanwhile her co-host Ben Shephard quipped: "That's awkward."

To add even more fuel to the fire, viewers, who are clearly down with kitchen etiquette, noticed that after Amanda swiped up the cream from the floor, and then licked her fingers, she started to handle the grub. Someone on Twitter went as far as labelling the presenter a tramp, which seems a bit much.

Ben and Amanda are filling in for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield while they're on break, but Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will do their usual hosting tomorrow.
