Oh you tease, Lord Sugar

Get your pointing fingers ready, cue the secretaries pretending to be on the phone and prepare those needlessly-inflated egos: The Apprentice is returning to our television screens.

On Friday afternoon, the BBC released a new teaser for the business-themed show, where 18 candidates go head-to-head in a chance to win a £250,000 ($339,228) investment from Lord Alan Sugar for their business.

It's a bit like a stretched-out Dragon's Den, if you will, with the candidates competing over (usually) 12 weeks, via different tasks set by billionaire Sugar.

From Ruth Badger to the 'Big K' Karthik Nagesan, each series thus far has provided us with some memorable candidates and memorable quotes - and I don't just mean 'you're fired'.

Who could ever forget the late Stuart 'The Brand' Baggs? Or posh-boy Raef Bjayou? What about last year's winner Alana Spencer, or plumber turned protégé Joe Valente?

This new series will be the programme's thirteenth, and the teaser pays homage to one of the favourite tasks during the process - making an advert.

It hasn't received a universally warm welcome from the show's fan base, though. One viewer wrote: "If anyone was in doubts if this was actually business, or just a TV show, I think you now have your answer."

Another added: "So, this shows exactly what it is like now, nonsense! I still love it but it does seem terribly scripted in some places!"

However, a third fan told their partner: "We're watching this together and if you don't enjoy it I'm leaving you!"

Personally, I'm hoping for a return to the 'shopping' task, where candidates are asked to obscure items off a list - often providing some hilarious results.

Last year's series saw Jessica believing she'd scooped a bargain with a £1 discount on a packet of cigars (Lord Sugar branded it 'pathetic').

The series will see Lord Sugar flanked by the ever-sharp Baroness Karren Brady and the delightfully brutal Claude Littner, who will assess the candidates on their tasks.

Claude infamously ripped into Solomon Akhtar in series ten for his shocking business plan. Missed it? Want to see it again? No fear, here it is...

The series will begin in October and is likely to run right up until Christmas.
