Dad-To-Be Passes Out On 'One Born Every Minute'

The whole thing proved a little bit too much for one man

The Channel 4 reality show One Born Every Minute is back, and for me, even watching at home is enough to make me feel a bit faint. I know the miracle of life is wonderful and all that, but it's also pretty scary.

So, I have complete sympathy for one of the show's new dad's, Ben, who passes out on the floor while his partner Amy is giving birth. Good luck ever living that down though, Ben.

In fairly dramatic scenes, dad-to-be Ben was being the dutiful and supportive partner one minute and was lying in a crumpled heap in the delivery room the next.

Ben opened up about feeling especially emotional since finding out he was going to be a dad and it seemed like, in the end, seeing his partner in labour just got a bit too much for him.

He said: "It shocked me. The emotions have changed. You've turned me into a right softie.

"I just feel like I've got to be strong for her. So I need to man up a bit, to be fair."

Speaking to the camera, Amy said: "From the minute we found out we was pregnant he has been extremely emotional...that has been nice to see."

As he hits the deck, Amy, who already has her hands full with, you know, bringing a new life into the world, can be heard to scream: "He just passed out!"

But don't worry too much, Amy gives birth to a gorgeous little girl and the mid-wife was able to call in a colleague to check over Ben's head.

A spokesperson for the show said: "Ben has been suffering from sympathy pains and cravings but knows he has to 'man up' for the birth - the question is, can he?"

I don't think we should be too hard on the poor fella, alright, he's not in labour, but I doubt it's a barrel of laughs seeing your partner in so much pain.

One Born Every Minute is back on Channel 4 this Wednesday at 9pm. If you want to Ben faint all over again, his and Amy's episode airs on 14 March.
