'Where’s Wally' Stars On 'First Dates' And Smashes It, Actually

41-year-old Canadian engineer Vaughn ended up being paired with Hannah, who'd been unlucky before

Children's puzzle book hero Wally - of Where's Wally? fame - has several admirable qualities. For one, he's bloody good at hide and seek. He also does a great impression of a Christmas candy cane, or even a barber's pole.

However, with his slightly nerdy image - red-and-white striped shirt, bobble hat and thick-rimmed glasses - you might be forgiven for thinking he sounds more equipped for 'autumnal walk to the library' than 'hot date'.

That was the challenge facing Canadian engineer Vaughn, a self-professed Wally lookalike who made his first appearance on Channel 4's First Dates last night.

"Honestly, I'm single probably because I look like Where's Wally," admitted the 41-year old who currently lives in Newbury, Berkshire.

"And no girls are at home with their Where's Wally? book going, 'Oh yeah! He's nice!'"

'Typical Canadian' Vaughn was paired up with Hannah, a quirky 40-year-old from Bristol who had sadly faced rejection once before on First Dates.

Unmarried and with no kids, Hannah admitted to wanting a long-term relationship with someone who could handle her adventurous personality.

In a previous episode of the show, Hannah shared a table with Christmas tree farmer Robert Morgan from Swansea, who was astounded by her enthusiasm and endearing kookiness.

While the pair shared a love of camping and the outdoors, Hannah's nerves got the better of her and Robert ended up turning down a second meeting.

The question was, then, whether camping-loving Vaughn would be a better fit for Hannah and, we have to say, it certainly looks promising.

The match-up didn't get off to the smoothest opening as Vaughn shared that he had recently enjoyed a trip to the Bonnaroo music festival, held every year in Tennessee.

However, Hannah's gaffes got in the way again as she misheard Vaughn as saying '10C', awkwardly causing him to explain the U.S. state.

Despite the rocky start, Hannah and Vaughn's date seems to have gone swimmingly as the pair met up for a second date just a week later:

It looks to have been a fun one too - the pair ended up going on a Segway date on the trails of Bristol.

Maybe Vaugn isn't such a Wally after all.

(Hang on, does anyone say 'wally' any more?)
