You can always rely on This Morning to add a bit of drama to the middle of your morning, and today was no exception - with a guest ripping her wig off in the middle of a heated debate.

WATCH THE MOMENT SHE PULLS HER WIG OFF:

The segment saw Holly Willoughby, Philip Schofield and two guests discussing the controversy behind lightening black skin.

This followed comments made by Matthew Knowles (the father of a little-known BeyoncéKnowles) - who was reported as saying his daughter's success came partly from the fact that her skin is lighter - as well as Spice Girl Mel B, who was left having to defend herself after being accused of bleaching her skin.

Former model Irene Major, who has been using skin lightening products for over a decade, appeared on the show alongside AJ, who believes that people should be proud of their darker skin.

As you can imagine, the two conflicting ideas brought the conversation to a pretty fiery climax - with Irene ripping her wig off to prove a point.

As AJ spoke about the fact that people should be happy with the skin they're in, Irene decided to respond in a slightly unexpected way.

"You are from Nigeria?" She asked AJ. "Then you should be here in your traditional clothes, and take your freaking wig off, that is where we have to go."

She then took her own wig off, revealing short afro hair underneath the long blonde locks.

Turning to AJ, she continued: "This is the wrong person to come here and talk to me about it.

"If I looked in any of cupboard of yours I would see something which is exactly there for a little dark spot - we all go through this."

It was then that she urged AJ to take her wig off - which was when Philip Schofield had to step in.

Saying that Irene was being 'terrible defensive', he tried to calm the heated situation down by saying: "We would like a good, non-insulting debate."

Holly then diplomatically concluded the chat by simply saying people need to do whatever works for them.

To be fair, you've got to have a bit of a respect for Irene's brash, bold response. Hats off to her - or should that be wigs off to her?
