Arctic Monkeys Frontman Alex Turner Has Grown A Goatee

Many people will remember the insurgence of indie pop that flooded the charts back in 'the noughties'.

A lot of the bands that gave us popular hits that had people chanting in bars and at festivals have somewhat fizzled out, but there's a few that still remain strong.

Arctic Monkeys, for example, appear to have stood the test of time, and are still relevant even 11 years after releasing Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, the fastest selling British debut album at the time.

No longer spotty teenagers in polo shirts and jeans, the four of them tend to wear leather, or suits, paired with haircuts that would have been laughed at in 2006. But now, Alex Turner has gone for a rather risky and out there style choice, growing a goatee.

I'm not saying goatees are all that bad, because they're not, they look very good on middle-aged science teachers, but it's not something you'd associate with the Arctics.

Still, appearing at the Spotify-hosted listening party for Lana Del Rey's new album Lust For Life, the front man was seen proudly sporting his face fungus.

I can't put my finger on why, but it scares me a little bit.

Maybe it's because he looks like Joey Barton now.

Arctic Monkeys are reportedly recording their sixth album, so it could mean that Turner will be taking his goatee on tour soon.

It was reported that the four had reunited prior to Christmas to begin work on a sixth album, though they've been quiet since then. However, after a series of pictures were posted to Instagram by photographer Daniele Cavalli in May, as well as one from drummer Matt Helders, fans are licking their lips in anticipation.

'The Agile Beast' uploaded a picture of his drum kit surrounded by microphones, making it look as if he's laying down some beats for an album.

To add fuel to the fire, Cavalli posted a picture of Alex Turner on April 26 on what looks like the same piano that's in Helder's picture.

Let's hope they give us some solid news sooner than later, and preferably without beards. Apart from Nick O'Malley's, his is sick.
