People Are Reliving Ali G’s Incredible Interview With The DUP

Hilarious.

Way before the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) was on everyone's lips because of a potential deal with the Conservatives, the party was taken on by none other than Ali G.

The controversial fictional character, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, decided to interview DUP MP Sammy Wilson in 1999.

Ali asks: "So why is everyone cussing the RAC? Everyone today is saying the RAC, they chuck stones at them and whatever. It ain't their fault if they don't come, y'know, in time or whatever."

To be fair, Sammy Wilson did well to not get angry at Ali for confusing the Royal Ulster Constabulary with the car breakdown service RAC.

He also sat down with the head of Northern Ireland's Protestant Orange Order, George Patton. Ali asks whether adding in some 'human beatbox' to the annual July 12 Orange march would help create peace between the warring sides of the Troubles.

It appears to have gone down well with people on social media. It's not the first time the comedian has interviewed a politician. Back in 2003, he met up Donald Trump before he became the country's leader.

Ali wanted to seize the opportunity by pitching his 'ice-cream gloves' to the famed US businessman.

It's pretty cringe-worthy.

"[Donald Trump] claims he saw through the interview," Sasha Baron Cohen told James Corden on The Late Late Show recently.

"But actually, he was there for about seven minutes. That's quite a long time for an Ali G interview. I was the first person actually to realise that he's a dick."

I wonder if Ali will ever come back to interview any of the current leaders.
