It's pretty hard to say how 2017 could get any bigger or better for Conor McGregor.

The 29-year-old has risen to become the most famous face in his sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), and is now facing the reality of fighting one of the greatest boxers of all time.

But now, in a Facebook post, Universal pictures have announced that they will make a film about the Irishman.

The film will be called 'Conor McGregor: Notorious' and carries the tagline: "If you want it all, you have to fight for it."

Universal released the image for the first-look with the caption: "Coming Soon - The official story of the unstoppable rise of Conor McGregor. Happy birthday to the champ!"

No further details about the film have been released, so it is unclear if it is to be a documentary or a drama based on real-life events.

Unsurprisingly, social media users could not hide their excitement for the film.

Born on the July 14 1988, in Dublin, Conor came from humble backgrounds to now stand on the world stage in, what is likely to be, the world's biggest money-making boxing match in history.

Conor joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 2013, and didn't lose a fight until 2016 when he lost to Nate Diaz.

Yet, in late 2016, things took a twist. Conor, already top of his game in MMA decided he wanted to take on one of the biggest names in boxing, Floyd Mayweather.

After months of deliberation, and contract negotiations, the two fighters eventually set on the dotted line, with the date set for August 26, 2017.

Earlier this week, the pair the two took part in the first of four press conferences. Squaring up to each other for the first time in America, before just 24 hours later heading to Canada.

Both had different approaches, with Conor McGregor taking a very loud, brash and brazen approach.

For press conference number one, McGregor wore a suit that, from a distance, looked like a regular pinstripe suit. Instead it had the phrase 'Fuck You' repeatedly sewn into it.

At the second press conference, McGregor referred to Mayweather as a schoolboy (as he was carrying a rucksack onto the stage - although that bag had $5,000 in it).

Mayweather later accused McGregor of being racist due to the 'boy' name calling. The boxer said: "We all know there's only two types of boys - a white boy and a cowboy, and I'm neither.

"Racism still exists but you know, I try to take something negative and turn it into a positive.

"A lot of people say that Conor McGregor is racist but I'm not worried about that."

The story is a classic, and it should be a brilliant film. We await August 26 first, though.
