'All these channels, and there's fuck all on TV'. It's a common phrase said throughout many households across the UK.

For those who have the pleasure of Sky TV there are literally hundreds of channels out there - exactly who's watching them is anyone's guess.

However, it comes at a price. A hefty one. Sky's basic package costs around £22 at the moment, but that won't include sport or movies. Adding that on, well, you're looking at over £500 per year, easily.

Now, the Rupert Murdoch-owned corporation has had a revamp which could make it a lot cheaper to watch top movies and Premier League football whenever you want.

Sky Sports are to change the way they package their coverage which will see some channels scrapped and prices lowered.

They already have the Sky Sports F1 channel, and it is the success of this which could see other sports bundled in the same way.

Football will receive two listings, while there will also be a dedicated home for golf and cricket. Sky Sports Arena will be used as an overarch of rugby league, rugby union and tennis. Sky Sports News HQ will remain.

The new approach will see the cheapest option at £18, but the full selection will remain costly for customers.

Adding Sky Cinema, Sky Boxsets, HD and SkyQ then a monthly bill could easily reach three figures.

And great news, there's another way to save money too. Loyal customers, who do not already have discounts on their current packages, can save money very simply. Here is how...

1) Simply log into your Sky account.

2) Find the 'thinking of leaving sky' page. You can do that here.

3) At the bottom of the page, on the right hand side, is the subheading 'still looking to cancel?'. Click on the Sky TV option underneath.

4) If you're eligible for a discount you should be redirected to a questionnaire page, which will ask you why you want to cancel your package. Click on 'worried about the cost'.

5) Again, if you're eligible, you will be redirected to a page offering a discount on your bill. It could be as much as 20 percent.

6) Read through the terms and conditions and, if you're happy, you may have just saved yourself a wad of cash.

And, with all that extra cash, you can go outside and treat yourself, not watching the TV you are paying hefty amounts for!
