Super Bowl 'Selfie Kid' Reveals What He Was Really Doing On His Phone

Even if you didn't watch the Super Bowl last night - some of us have jobs, you know? - you probably heard about the star of the half-time show.

No, not Justin Timberlake, but the 13-year-old 'Selfie Kid' - real name Ryan McKenna - who took what people are calling one of the best selfies ever when the star was performing 'Can't Stop The Feeling'.

Ryan later told Good Morning America exactly what went down:

While Timberlake's show featured the former NSYNC member duetting with a hologram of Prince and some dazzling production values, it also saw the 37-year-old spend some time in the crowd amongst fans.

The luckiest of those was clearly Ryan, because even though he was looking down at his phone when the pop star appeared behind him - prompting speculation across the Twitterverse as to what he was actually looking at.

Even XBox got involved...

Thankfully, he was able to snap the now legendary photo which, in addition to that TV appearance, has made him the most popular 13-year-old in his school - if not the whole of the USA.

While the Selfie Kid was hit with viewers, many weren't so keen on Timberlake's outfit during the performance.

The pop star came to the stage dressed in camo trousers and a weird deer/desert print crossover shirt as he began promoting his newest album Man in the Woods, which has been described as 'like Wild West, but now'. Gotcha.

To make the outfit an even more egregious assault on good taste, Timberlake combined the outfit with a red and white bandana around his neck. See, this is what happens when creative genius goes unchallenged.

Unsurprisingly, Twitter had a lot of fun with the outfit, with one person even calling for Stella to give up the day job.

"Stella McCartney should throw in the towel on her design career after that Justin Timberlake Deer on my Shirt/Red Bandana horror show of an outfit," one tweeter said. Ouch.

Other people compared him to a range of other unflattering things like a wildlife safari van, the desktop of Mac OS Sierra, and their grandpop.
