They say the answers are sometimes right in front of us, or even right under our noses. While these are just turns of phrase, for one Spanish game show contestant, it was quite literally the case.

An unlucky competitor on popular quiz show Ahora Caigo, missed out on a top prize of €100,000 when he got the answer to one of his questions wrong - despite the answer being written in block capitals on his T-shirt.

The contestant, named only as Alberto, was doing his best to get his hands on some cash when he was hit with the question: "What is Steve Rogers in the Avengers? 'Doctor', 'Sir' or 'Captain'."

Considering Alberto was quite clearly a fan of Marvel Comics, the answer shouldn't have been particularly tricky for him to remember. Especially when you consider he was actually wearing a Captain America T-shirt at the time.

Even as the host of the show gestured towards his T-shirt in an attempt to help him along, Alberto struggled to muster the correct answer, leaving his rival chuckling in disbelief.

After much deliberation, the confused game show guest turned to his host and guessed: "Doctor?"

Needless to say, this was definitely not the correct answer to the question.

Host Arturo Valls couldn't contain his amusement at the situation, commenting: "We wear these shirts and we do not know what we are wearing!"

Just to rub salt in the wound for down-on-his-luck Alberto, the hilarious clip is now well and truly doing the rounds online.

One Spanish Twitter user commented: "The worst thing is that he only had to look at his chest and have a basic level of English to get it right."

While another added: "The guy in the Captain America shirt just failed this... kill him!" Maybe a little extreme, but whatever.
