His mind ran all over the place.

It was the blunder to end all blunders. Acting legends Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announced La La Land as the winner of Best Picture... but they weren't the winners.

Moonlight was the actual winner - and the internet took off. PWC apologised for the cock-up, and admitted the announcers had been given the wrong envelope.

La La Land - about a musician and actress who fall in love - sees Gosling dancing at his very best. There are also times when he's danced at his probable worst....

When all the footage of the Oscars failure was replayed, and among all the shocked faces, gasps and confusion, there stands Ryan Gosling. And he found it funny.

You can quite clearly see him giggling away to himself as the actors of moonlight walk up to the stage to collect their deserved award.

The 36-year-old actor relived the moment in front of several marketing boffins at the Adobe Summit in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Gosling explained that his first thought was one of emergency.

"I was watching people start to have this panicked reaction in the crowd and guys were coming on with headset and I felt like someone had been hurt," he said.

"I thought there was some kind of medical situation, and I had this worst-case scenario playing out in my head.

"And then I heard 'oh, Moonlight won,' and I was so relieved that I started laughing."

Gosling went on to explain his delight that Moonlight had won the award, calling the film 'groundbreaking' and an 'incredible achievement'.

The conversation then moved onto Gosling becoming the focus of a meme where he wouldn't eat his cereal.

"It made me aware of the potential power of them [memes]," he said.

The meme of Ryan refusing to eat cereal was created by the late Ryan McHenry, who died in 2015 aged 27. It got to the point when Ryan struggled to leave the house without people asking why he wouldn't polish off a bowl of cereal.

In tribute to McHenry, Gosling did eventually film himself eating a bowl of cereal.
