Floyd 'Money' Mayweather Goes In On Conor McGregor On Instagram

Floyd 'Money' Mayweather Goes In On Conor McGregor On Instagram

He's called 'Money' for a reason.

Conor McGregor fighting Floyd Mayweather makes sense. Maybe not in a technical ability sense, given that they're both from different sports, trained in different backgrounds - but their egos match up, so it'd be good to just see them smack each other's heads in and see who wins.

Anyway, while the will-they-won't-they saga continues, the two will converse in a war of words, belittling one another.

A constant theme in their bickering seems to be money. Both are loaded, but Floyd likes to remind Conor why he has the nickname 'Money'.

In a recent Instagram post the former boxer showed off his $650 million net worth, above the UFC man's $2.5 million. While two-and-a-half million isn't an amount to turn your nose up at, it isn't actually McGregor's reported earnings. Apparently he's worth $22 million.

Despite the mistake, Floyd's point remains the same, saying: "Before you ask for $25 million, be worth more than $25 million. You have the '2' and the '5' right but you meant to say $2.5 million not $25 million."

UFC president Dana White created this fire by offering Mayweather $25 million to come out of retirement to face the Irishman but the American wasn't too impressed, revealing he's not earned less than $32 million for the last 10 years and has made it pretty well known that he finds the offer of $25 million derisory.

In a recent interview he talked about White only being an 'employee' of UFC, essentially saying he doesn't get out of bed for anything less than $100 million and talked about when the UFC president used to carry his bags...

Despite this current back and forth, we would all really appreciate the pair of them going head-to-head. It'd probably be the sporting event on the century, with an unfathomable amount of money behind it.

A bit about the 'Money'

Back in 2008 he took on the Big Show at WWE's WrestleMania XXI, acting as one of that year's big name draw and guest appearance. He was declared the winner of the fight, knocking the giant out.

Away from sport he's also never far away from a celebrity argument.

Though they've buried the hatchet now, him and 50 Cent were engaged in a rather strange war, with Fiddy challenging Floyd to read a full page from a Harry Potter book, saying he'll give $750,000 to charity if he does.

The pair are former business associates and friends, so apparently it is all water under the bridge.

"Just as a man, I respect him, I love him," Mayweather previously told MLive.com. However, for a bit it seemed like it was really going to boil over.

"50 Cent seems like he's got a problem since Floyd left him," Floyd Mayweather Sr., Floyd's dad, said. "He's a [well] known singer and he's acting like a kid.

"He weighs over 100 pounds more than Floyd. Let him go up against Floyd... put that on video. Floyd would stop all that. Wouldn't be no more said."

Point being: Just get McGregor and Mayweather in a ring.
