All around nice guy and unspeakably rich tycoon Richard Branson has chimed into the United Airlines debacle.

And when I say 'chimed' I mean gone fully savage.

In a Facebook post, the billionaire shared a photo of himself aboard a Virgin flight handing out free drinks to the delight of his passengers.

They appear to be vodka and oranges - which is a fine drink - but they might be something a bit more fancy. It's hard to tell.

"Airline passengers, & all customers, don't deserve to be treated like numbers on a balance sheet & cattle in a cabin," he captioned it.

His fans expressed their gratitude for his consideration following this week's violent showdown aboard a United Airlines flight in which a 69-year-old man was man-handled by security for refusing to give up his seat.

One user wrote: "Excellent opportunity for companies like Virgin to edge out the competition based on CUSTOMER service which is what ALL companies should be doing. Good job Virgin and others."

Another said: "About 6.5 years ago our flight on a different airline was delayed because Gatwick was stopped by snow. We got to chatting with some Virgin Passengers and they were all being put up at the airport hotel. So while the airport was full of people getting there flights cancelled and being asked to purchase another ticket. your airline took great care of your clients. That was very impressive. We were well cared for as well by our carrier."

David Dao, the doctor who suffered the brutality on that now infamous United Airlines flight has since hired two Chicago attorneys, one who specialises in personal injury and another in corporate governance.

One of the, Stephen Golan, said: "The family of Dr. Dao wants the world to know that they are very appreciative of the outpouring of prayers, concern and support they have received.

"Currently, they are focused only on Dr. Dao's medical care and treatment."

The other attorney, Thomas Demetrio, is a partner in a firm which was won over $1billion in compensation payments for its clients. Demetrio is also a specialist in the aviation industry.

Good on you, Richard. And if you're reading, how about some first class tix for the lads?
