A British Council worker has got herself in all kinds of trouble after commenting on a meme that went very viral regarding Prince George.

Remember, if you laugh at this, you're a bad person.

Okay, I admit it. I laughed. But obviously it's just a silly joke. A lot of people are getting very arsey about it in the comments.

I really don't think the Royal Family are going to be losing sleep over a meme.

Anyway, Angela Gibbins, head of global estates at The British Council, has faced a backlash after commenting on the meme: "White privilege. That cheeky grin is the innate knowledge he's royal, rich, advantaged and will never know *any* difficulties or hardships in life.

"Let's find photos of 3yo Syrian refugee children and see if they look alike, eh?"

When other Facebook users starting kicking off at her comments, she responded: "I'm sound in my socialist, atheist and republican opinions.

"I don't believe the royal family have any place in a modern democracy, least of all when they live on public money. That's privilege and it needs to end."

The British Council is a charity that promotes the UK and the English language in over 100 countries.

A spokeswoman told Metro: "This comment was made on a private social media account.

"It has absolutely no connection to the British Council and does not represent the views of the British Council.

"That said, we expect the highest standards of our staff and we will be investigating the matter further."

Wow. People really get wound up when you criticise the Royals, don't they? I'll keep my mouth shut then.
