Reporter Is Vomited On During Fourth Of July Broadcast

Reporter Is Vomited On During Fourth Of July Broadcast

Journalists who venture out of their offices to get a story have to put up with a lot. While weather reporters might get to broadcast from some of the best beach spots, they might also be sent out during a massive storm and have to act like their life isn't in danger.

KTLA reporter Wendy Burch thought covering the annual Hermosa Beach Ironman would have been one of those run-of-the-mill stories which provide some light-hearted entertainment to viewers.

This wasn't an ordinary Ironman. The competitors have to run a mile, paddle on a board for a mile and then drink a six-pack of beer as quick as possible. As the athletes launched off from the starting blocks, Wendy stopped a man and they joked about how he wasn't exactly the fittest competitor.

The reporter caught up with him again during the crucial beer drinking section. While this one man was holding his own, someone else clearly couldn't handle their alcohol. During the live broadcast, viewers caught a tiny glimpse of Wendy getting sprayed with vomit before the shot froze.

While the video element dropped, the audio held up just fine and you can hear Wendy wailing as she gets covered in someone's sick.

The footage cuts back to the reporter's colleagues back in the newsroom and they can hardly contain their laughter.

This was broadcast at 9am - and many people took to social media to basically say their breakfast had been ruined.

Wendy has written for the Huffington Post, claiming the man she was interviewing, had 'Puke Here' written on his back with permanent marker.

She hilariously adds: "While the anchors tried to regain their composure and go onto the next story. I assumed I was still live. So, for the better part of the next two minutes, I just kept interviewing drunken people. while sudsy substances flew in in the air and landed in my hair.

"I once had a nightmare about reporting live, in the middle of a mosh pit. with hundreds of sweaty men throwing up all around me.

"To all of you aspiring journalists out there, I'm here to tell you, dreams really do come true... especially in the age of viral videos."
