Royal Wedding 2018: The Reactions To Bishop Michael Curry’s Show Stealing Service Are Priceless

It might be one of the biggest days for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle as they tie the knot after a healthy two years of courting, but there's someone else who has well and truly stolen the show from them both. That someone is the American Bishop, Michael Curry.

The bishop is being lauded as the 'break out star' from the event after the Archbishop of Canterbury described him as a 'stunning preacher', delivering an absolutely outstanding sermon on the big day.

Opening his speech with inspiring words from Martin Luther King Jr. and delivering them with the passion and gusto of an absolute boss, he said: "We must discover the power of love, the redemptive power of love. And when we do that, we will be able to make of this old world a new world. Love is the only way. There's power in love. Don't underestimate it. Don't even over-sentimentalise. There is power, power in love."

We love the fact that the bishop decided not just to focus on the couple's relationship, but also on important themes such as war, poverty, and hunger.

And we're not the only ones to appreciate his words. At several moments, members of the congregation were caught smiling and exchanging banter glances, including Prince Will.

Probably a lot more spice and passion than the royal family are used to during their usual church services.

Elsewhere, Twitter conjured up a storm of delightful reactions to Bishop Curry's show-stealing sermon.

And Ed Miliband even chimed in.

In another part of the speech, the bishop said he needed to sit down while gesturing at the couple and stating: "We need to get y'all married." But that's not all - he also called upon the wisdom of French thinker Pierre Teilhard de Chardin for his conclusion.

He said: "Anybody get here in a car today? An automobile? Nod your head if you did, I know there were some carriages. Those of us who came in cars, controlled, harnessed fire. Fire made that possible.

"I know the Bible said - and I believe it - that Jesus walked on the water, but I have to tell you I didn't walk across the Atlantic Ocean to get here - controlled fire in that plane got me here."

Drawing on his references, the world's most badass bishop concluded: "If humanity ever captures the energy of love, it will be the second time in history that we have discovered fire."

Amen to that.
