Donald Trump Nabbed His 2020 Campaign Slogan From 'The Purge', Sad!

A nab, folks. Believe me.

We all came to know 'Make America Great Again' during 2016. It was Trump's most famous catchphrase, even eclipsing 'You're fired!' by a country mile.

The template had already existed for years. Groups over here were saying 'Make Britain Great Again' for years before US Republicans. Ours, regardless of whether you're behind it or not, made a bit of sense because it was a play on the fact Britain has actually got 'Great' in its name. Trump just saw us saying it, changed it around and trademarked it. That, or he just nabbed it from Reagan during his 1980 campaign.

An interview with The Washington Post, in which the President-elect talks about creating his campaign slogan like he's recounting a memory from the front-line, brings up how Trump plans to alter the slogan for the 2020 re-election build up.

"Are you ready?" he says. " 'Keep America Great,' exclamation point."

"Get me my lawyer!" he then shouts.

When one arrives two minutes later, Trump tells them: "Will you trademark and register, if you would, if you like it - I think I like it, right? Do this: 'Keep America Great', with an exclamation point. With and without an exclamation. 'Keep America Great'."

One problem: it's already the slogan to 2016's The Purge: Election Year, a movie in which all crimes are legal for one day every year.

Many have noted the parallels between real life and fiction. Actor Frank Grillo James DeMonaco said the slogans were intentional to Comicbook.com last year, with the slogan 'Keep American Great' a response to 'Make America Great Again': "Oddly enough, the guy who plays the President in the movie, he plays him like Trump - totally by accident," he says, jokingly.

Here is a trailer for horror movie The Purge: Election Year.

"There's a lot of parallels between the GOP race and the movie."

I personally don't even think Trump will get to 2020 to begin with. Odds on?
