A statue of Alan Shearer has been unveiled at Newcastle United's St James' Park stadium but some fans are pissing themselves at it.

A lot of people have commented that it looks like Dale Winton, The Head from Art Attack or the 'Lynx Chocolate man'.

To be honest, it's hilarious and, to be fair, it does look pretty fucking weird. Although I bet Newcastle aren't laughing as the statue cost them an eye-watering £250,000.

Fans have taken to Twitter to commend Shearer on the achievement of managing to get a statue of himself erected. Fair play, he's an incredible bloke and arguably the best striker in the Premiere League of all time. However, you can't help but take the piss a bit.

Everyone's a bloody critic.

What did the man himself have to say, though? He simply tweeted: "Honoured to have my statue unveiled today in Newcastle. Thanks to everyone for their support during my career."

Congratulations, Alan. When's Supermarket Sweep making a comeback?
