With the curtain about to fall on Russia 2018, and the World Cup packed away to either France or Croatia for the next four years, it's time to get back to what we know and love.

Yes, that's right. The beginning of the International Champions Cup is just days away!

But seriously, once this fantastic World Cup is over (and it could be the last great one for a while) we can leave behind all of this unity and togetherness and go back to the tribal in-fighting that is club football.

Where once we threw pints in the air in collective joy, we'll throw barbs at each other across pub car parks, and where once we hugged each other in shared relief, we'll headlock each other for spurious reasons that in some way pertain to dodgy foul throw decisions.

This is a roundabout way of saying that Roberto Firmino will be back in the red of Liverpool with a brand new haircut.

Yes, fresh from his surprise exit from the World Cup with Brazil, the Seleção striker will be back for the 2018-19 season out to prove that blondes have more fun.

Obviously, he isn't back just yet, he's having a few weeks off for rest and recuperation, but he's decided to bleach his locks ahead of his return for crucial friendly clashes against Napoli and Torino. Exciting stuff.

Bobby has got previous when it comes to bold fashion choices. He has been seen in recent times rocking a daring topknot effort - daring is a word which, in this case, means 'running the risk of being told he looks like a knobhead' - and has also tried out some pretty subtle (by footballers' standards) frosted tips.

Of course, we have yet to see him take on the pink hair-rollers of his adopted home town, but there's time yet.

You can be almost certain that his decision to match the top of his head with his already glistening smile will not affect his abilities on the football pitch, unless the glare from his head is designed to catch defenders cold in the late summer haze.

This is, of course, waffle, but after today's final, the World Cup will be over and we'll only have meaningless friendlies, European qualifiers that are more akin to a geography lesson than actual meaningful football, and the endless cycle of dross that is transfer speculation.

Buckle up, chums. It's going to be a long old summer.
