Alpaca Breeder Gives Her Herd An Epic Hipster Makeover

I wouldn't mind a haircut from her.

Alpacas have gained a bad reputation for spitting but one breeder in Gloucestershire wants to improve their image. Literally.

Helen Kendall Smith tested out her buzz cut skills on 10 of her 30 alpacas and she's produced some stunning results.

The 53-year-old has to give the animals a haircut every year to stop their fleece from becoming uncomfortably long, but decided that they should have a bit more creative flair this time.

Helen said: "We decided to give them funky haircuts I designed in order to celebrate our tenth year of breeding alpaca, which we are very excited about.

"I designed the styles based on the type of fleece the alpaca males had and their individual personalities and colours. I did some drawings but what was important is the alpaca enjoyed the experience."

Helen said only the males were shorn because the females are pregnant for nearly an entire year and have to be shaved quickly when they're ready.

Some of the pictures look like the alpaca are about to drop the most lit album of 2017.

Helen has run Kensmyth Alpaca Stud since she quit her sales job in 2008 and said that each alpaca can fetch tens of thousands of pounds.

Helen hopes that the haircut will show people the humorous side to alpacas.

Well she's certainly got my attention.

Alpacas are traditionally from Peru in South America and have been domesticated over thousands of years.

There are no longer any known wild alpacas and their fleece is said to be the best of the camelid species because of its softness and fineness.
