Thirty-eight-year-old Alan Kent was once brandished as Jeremy Kyle's favourite ever guest. He's now been banged up for 16 weeks, fined £100 ($130) and forced to pay £200 ($260) in costs.

Appearing on the show in February, wearing a suit with trainers and explaining he was a church-going Mormon, Kent was there to speak with his wife, who admitted to sleeping with another man the day before their wedding.

Louise denied the affair but failed a subsequent lie detector test, although the couple said on the show that they would stay together.

However, months later police were called to a 'hostage situation', as Kent locked himself and their two children in the house, before threatening suicide.

Essex Police spent hours talking to Kent in an attempt to calm him down, merely months after they went to Manchester to film the show.

Kent told The Jeremy Kyle Show that Louise used to sneak 'sexy clothes out of the house' and questioned if she was as religious as him.

Giggling to the host, he added: "You can only put up with it for so long before it gets heavy."

Louise failed every single lie detector question, but the pair said they would remain together for the sake of the family.

She denied the affair and claimed she made it all up as Alan constantly accused her of having one.

Neighbour Vickie Martin, who saw the 'hostage situation' unfold, said: "This is the same couple who were on The Jeremy Kyle Show a few months ago.

"He had an argument with her earlier in the day and was going on about how she cheated on him.

"She had left the house and he was kicking off, shouting out of his windows, saying he had taken tablets and calling his wife every name you can think of.

"Police were asking him to let his kids out."

After the stand-off was resolved, Kent was charged with assaulting his wife and jailed for 16 weeks, fined £100 and ordered to pay £200 in costs.

He was also told to pay £100 to PC Scott, £100 to his wife, and given a 12-month restraining order.

He will also have to complete a 30-day Rehabilitation Activity Requirement to help him address his behaviour.

He was branded the 'worst guest ever' after threatening to 'squash' host Jezza and telling random members of the audience he'd steal their girlfriends, before asking for a fight.

Chalk and cheese, my friends. Chalk and cheese.
