Newsreader Suffers A Classic 'Jeremy Hunt' Slip Of The Tongue Live On Air

Newsreader Suffers A Classic 'Jeremy Hunt' Slip Of The Tongue Live On Air

Jeremy who, sorry?

He's probably the man with one of the most feared surnames in the newsrooms of television and radio journalists up and down the country.

That man is Jeremy Hunt, and he has just been named as the continuing health secretary under Mrs May's new government structure in partnership with the DUP.

To be fair to the political reporters, it's one of the busiest times in their career. An election campaign means long hours following politicians to the four corners of the UK, an overnight coverage special on the evening of the general election, and an unwelcome list of 'C' words: cabinet, committee, Conservatives.

So, when Theresa May is reshuffling her Conservative Cabinet, and a rolling breaking news surrounding this, there's bound to be a desire just put 'C' at the start of each word.

And we all know what Hunt rhymes with.

Yes, that's right, and he's just claimed another victim. This time it's the turn of BBC political reporter, Ellie Price.

Like a trooper though she soldiered on, almost as if she never made the mistake whilst reporting on the cabinet reshuffle.

It's unlikely anything major will happen to Price, maybe a slapped wrist at most. She's certainly not the first to be caught out by Jeremy's unfortunate surname, and she will definitely won't be the last.

Hunt has faced many challenges as health secretary, particularly with the continuing pressure on NHS resources, but he was also in the same position during the junior doctor strikes.

So maybe there are people who think that's he a bit of a, erm, intolerable gent, but he's also been a strong character at times, and Theresa May has decided to keep him onboard.

However, it's not just his surname that's causing BBC journos to swear live on air. The small hours of Friday morning proved tough for political editor Laura Kuenssberg.

Her slip-up happened during live coverage with David Dimbleby on the election night coverage. She was updating viewers on home secretary Amber Rudd's narrow re-election into her seat after a recount... definitely a recount. Right?

Oh, this is why we love live television.
