Ed Sheeran Lookalike 'Catfished' Public Into Thinking They'd Met The Real Deal

This is hilarious.

An Ed Sheeran lookalike decided to prank members of the public into believing they'd met the real deal in Newcastle yesterday.

The real Ed was actually In Newcastle for two nights as part of his world tour.

The sneaky lookalike was driving around in a Metro Radio Arena car, which fooled people even more as that was where Ed was performing.

Why would he do this? Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely hilarious, but was this some kind of publicity stunt? I don't think Ed has had trouble shifting tickets.

Anyway, we need to feel sorry for poor Amy-Jo Halligan. The 24-year-old medical laboratory assistant for the NHS was absolutely thrilled when she met her idol ahead of his gig.

As you can see from her face, she was just a bit starstruck...

God bless her. She uploaded the video to Facebook and... well... yeah. It's not him.

She told LADbible: "We were just walking down towards the arena and we stopped just near the bridge so I could shove my two bottles of Desperado down the back of my pants or top to sneak in. It was only because we were being sneaky that I noticed the Metro Arena car go past.

"All I saw was ginger hair looking out the window, so I was like, 'that's Ed!'. I literally ran down like I'd shat myself with my bottles still down my pants telling the car to stop.

"Obviously my phone was straight out to take a Snapchat. I got my snap then posted it all over Facebook since I was totally buzzing and so convinced it was Ed Sheeran."

She even posted this little Snapchat straight after meeting 'Ed'.

She added: "It wasn't until this morning that I had a few messages telling me it wasn't him that I realised. Literally been catfished by a fake Ed."

Don't worry though, Amy-Jo. You're not the only one...

There's also this bloke...

To be fair, he does look very convincing.

Some people took to Twitter to point out that this guy wasn't quite who he was making himself out to be.

He does look the spit of him so I don't blame anyone who fell for it. Hilarious, though, right?!
