Newsreader Goes In For Kiss Live On Air But Gets Awkwardly Rejected

This is so bad.

We've all been there; when you're with a girl, and you're not sure if you're going in for a hug, a kiss, or nothing at all.

It can be endlessly awkward, and often leave you looking far too eager.

Thank your lucky stars, though, that even if you have suffered the embarrassment of this happening to you, that it's never happened on live television.

Australian sports reporter Tony "Chompers" Jones came on set on 9News, which is the national news service of the Nine Network with a flagship, hour-long state bulletin at 6pm, to bid farewell to colleague and weather reporter Rebecca Judd.

Towards the end of the segment, Tony "Chompers" "Eager Beaver" Jones leaned in to kiss Rebecca on the cheek, to which she flat out rejected him. Like, seriously, you can see his soul leave his body.

He's had an absolute stinker here, to be honest.

It's the kind of thing that keeps you awake at night, thinking to yourself 'why the fuck did I do that?', wondering if everyone will quickly forget. They never do, though. His colleagues will be leaning in for ironic kisses for a very long time.

Head up, Chompers.
