Pokémon Go Player Thinks He's Caught Two Mewtwos But He's Sadly Mistaken

This guy has been claiming he'd caught two Mewtwos. We were sadly disappointed.

This morning I woke up as normal - groggy as fuck and desperate to drop the kids off at the pool. Last night's curry had not settled well.

I reached for the light, turned it on, quickly realised that was a mistake and thought it a much better idea to just stumble to the toilet in the dark.

Post business, I curled up in bed again only to glance up at my clock and realise I had five minutes before my bastard alarm was going to go off for work.

So I grabbed my phone to check my overnight notifications. There were a few WhatsApp messages, a couple of Snapchats and... a Twitter DM.

Now, you've got to understand, even working where I do, Twitter DMs aren't really much of a thing. I only ever get messages off other writers or people that work in TV who want contact details about someone I've written about. It's never that interesting.

But this one caught my eye because I saw a screenshot of a Pokédex and the word 'Mewtwo' beneath.

I was excited. Not a day ago I'd written an article about a bloke who'd caught all the Pokémon except the legendary birds, Ditto, the location-locked Pokémon and Mewtwo. And Mew, but they're even rarer than Mewtwo, so I'm hardly holding my breath for one of those.

The first message said: "Two Meowth caught in one day."

The second message said: "My bad. Mewtwo."

Anyway, I looked at the screenshot of the Pokédex and was severely disappointed. This is what I saw...

He hadn't caught a Mewtwo. He hadn't caught two Mewtwos. He'd caught two Meowths and just got his wires crossed.

After sending him some question marks because I was utterly confused and hoping he'd just sent me the wrong screenshot, he then sent me this:

No, there are still no Mewtwos in existence on Pokémon Go... yet, anyway.

This was just one great big terrible misunderstanding that could have kick-started my weekend and instead left me pondering whether I should ever trust strangers on the internet ever again.

For anyone else confused out there, misspelling/mistaking Meowth and Mewtwo can make or break a fellow Pokémon Go player's weekend. Be warned.
