Tinder Matches Keep Up Running Joke For Three Years

Tinder Matches Keep Up Running Joke For Three Years

This is brilliant.

Tinder can often be awkward and slow for matches, something that just about every singleton will agree with.

But every so often a match comes along and things seem to click. You're on the same wavelength and it seems almost surreal that you're not chatting to someone with the personality of a cardboard cut-out.

These two, from Kent State University, found that connection, and it was so good that they're yet to meet in person, so as to not ruin what they've got.

Michelle Arendas and Josh Avsec matched on the dating app in September 2014, but it took Michelle two months to reply to Josh's initial message.

"Tinder was super new at the time for my whole friend group. At the time I had matched with a whole bunch of girls and I took it as a joke. I sent [them] some pretty humorous lines," Josh told Buzzfeed. "I bumped into Michelle. She seemed a little different, so I sent her something different."

Michelle explained that she'd deleted the app, but then downloaded it again in November, which is why it took so long for her to reply.

As the two weren't really going anywhere serious anytime soon, Josh decided that he'd emulate Michelle's patience, waiting another two months to send another message.

After this, a running joke which has been going for three years was born.

"I was not really expecting he would message me back and play along with it," said Michelle. "I thought my message to him would be the end of it."

Realising how funny their exchanges were, Josh posted the screenshots on Twitter, expecting to get a few laughs from his followers. However, within minutes his notifications were going crazy as the favourites and retweets came flooding in.

It went viral and people were enthralled by their relationship. Even the official Tinder account got involved.

Though both of them are interested in meeting each other, especially in Maui, they still haven't managed to do so.

That being said, they are reportedly trying to settle on a date on which they can both make it, so we can only hope this all works out.

"Everything is going great and I love talking with her, but I don't want to rush anything," Josh said. "Conversation has been so easy with her."

Would be a right pain in the arse if they ended up being totally incompatible, wouldn't it?
