Your Mind: How To Protect It

UOKM8? campaign ambassador Hussain Manawer has spoken frankly about his mental health battles in this past - now, in our series of 'First Steps' videos, he give us his tips to protect your mind and promote better mental health.

Hussain's five tips to protect your mind include being honest, finding time to connect with something you love and showing gratitude.

Speaking about social media, Hussain says: "People piss me off when they post things like 'positive vibes only' and 'positive gang'. It's impossible to be positive all the time. Honest."

He adds: "The world of social media, we have this online playground where we all like to present the perfect images of ourselves - that really affects me.

"Because I know certain people and they ain't happy all the time but they're posting and they're projecting this really perfect image and I'm like, 'Yo, that's not possible all the time.' So, what I've decided to do is take time away from that and spend time doing what really makes me happy."

Watch Hussain give his First Steps guide to how to ask for help.

UOKM8? is a campaign by LADbible, featuring films and stories that provide advice and inspiration on mental health. Explore more here and don't suffer in silence. Let's talk mental health.
