World's Saddest Polar Bear Trapped In China Could Have A New UK Home

Go on Pizza lass!

Meet Pizza. She's a polar bear living in China. Her life at the moment is pretty shit and she is quite possibly the saddest polar bear in the world.

She lives in a shopping centre and has to suffer from constant banging on windows from shoppers who want to take selfies with her.

But the dark days may be behind Pizza as Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster, England, has asked Grandview Centre in Guangzhoi, China, whether it can take Pizza off their hands - giving her a proper home and a proper life, reports the Mirror.

If the shopping centre agrees to the deal then Pizza will fly over to the UK and, once over her jet lag, will live in a spacious new home along with four other polar bears to play with - and no shoppers to be seen.

It comes after animal rights activists called on customers to boycott the shopping centre. Furthermore, 300,000 people signed a petition calling for the bear to be re-homed.

In the same shopping centre that traps animals to 'entertain' customers, there are two polar bears, six belugas, five walruses and a wolf.

Animals Asia Animal Welfare Director, Dave Neale, said: "There is no excuse for any animal to be trapped this way but it's widely believed that polar bears are one of the hardest of all animals to effectively provide for in captivity. Polar bears often exhibit 'stereotypic' behaviour as captivity restricts their natural instincts, such as the need to forage.

"Polar bears require huge amounts of space. Large enough for them to walk, run, climb and hunt.

"The list of what they need is very long - to a point whereby you can only really answer that what a polar bear really 'needs' is to be free to live life in the wild."

Let's hope she gets relocated.

Also, who named a polar bear Pizza. And, more importantly, why?
