A Real-Life Hogwarts Is Opening In The UK This Summer
First off, I promise this is nowhere near as lame as it sounds. Okay it is, but if you're a massive fan of Harry Potter you won't even care.
Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex is opening its doors to the general public to hold a LARP event. LARP is basically Live-Action Role Play and the idea behind this is recreating Hogwarts as closely as possible. I don't even care what you think, I honestly want to go to this so badly it hurts.
It's taking place between 11th - 13th August 2017 and you get:
- to be sorted in to one of the School Houses
- take part in lessons on the art of witchcraft
- stay in a15th century castle with all meals included.
- compete against the other houses and celebrate at the school's banquet
Oh my God, I need to go. Throw in an all-you-can-drink bar and it's a dream event. Mind you, the website says you have to be over 18 so maybe there's some alcoholic butterbeer floating about.
Sadly, it's not cheap. The three days will cost between £440-£450. But there's even a murder mystery kind of thing going on and I honestly think that sounds awesome.
They're partnering with the College of Wizardry from Poland and New World Magischola from the U.S. for an extra magical touch.
The website says: "You'll stay for 3 days, full board, and be sorted into your house, take part in lessons, attend a banquet, explore the grounds and meet weird and wonderful creatures. All of this takes place in our enchanting 15th century castle.
"The event runs much like a murder mystery. You'll be given a role to play and a story will unfold around you where you have to interact with other characters. It's just just like being in a movie or video game!
"We'll provide the robes, so all you'll need is a wand and good humour. If you've never experienced anything like this before, don't worry. We cater for all backgrounds; you can get as much or as little involved as you like and we will have all you need to have a great time."
It's not lame.
