Man Captures The Moment He Survived A Shark Attack On His GoPro

Terrifying stuff.

A college student came face-to-face with the ocean's ultimate - and most feared - predator, a great white shark, and filmed the whole incident on GoPro.

22-year-old Tyler McQuillen was spearfishing with friends in just 10 feet of water off the coast of Santa Barbara, California, when the attack occurred.

At first, McQuillen believed that his mates were just pulling his leg (literally) as something grabbed hold of him. In fact, it was a great white monster that locked its jaws, clamping down on his foot.

In panic, he dropped his speargun in the heat of the moment but shortly recovered it, which ultimately saved his life.

The shark returned, this time targeting - but just missing - McQuillen's head.

Before the beast could strike again, the lad took his speargun and jabbed it into the side of the shark, which was enough to send it into a retreat.

McQuillen miraculously only suffered from two broken toes from the incident. Probably best not to go back to that spot, or swimming with the fishes could have a new meaning.
