Good news for Chris Evans and Top Gear!

Only joking. It's bad news - obviously. Sunday's series finale hit a new ratings low, finishing with fewer than two million viewers. For context, and clarification for fans of the old series, that's lower than any episode from the Clarkson/Hammond/May years.

This may have had something to do with France vs. Iceland Euro 2016 quarter final.

But when you think about it, France were up by four at half-time, so it was barely an edge-of-your-seat nail-biter.

It's one of many hits the BBC2 show has suffered.

Last night's audience is worse than the previous record low just two weeks ago, which was 2.3 million.

Evans said he would be "disappointed" if he amassed fewer than five million viewers prior to the revamp launch.

We'll have to wait and see what happens with this old chesnut.
