American Airlines Attendant Suspended After Leaving Mum Sobbing On Flight

Not a good look

Airlines in the US aren't getting a good reputation at the moment.

While litigation continues between Doctor David Dao and United Airlines for being dragged off a flight against his will, American Airlines has been thrust into a similar PR nightmare.

A video has surfaced showing a mum of two crying, while an AA employee tells another passenger to 'hit me'. They were on board a plane going from San Francisco to Dallas.

Surian Adyanthaya uploaded the video and says: "OMG! AA Flight attendant violently took a stroller from a lady with her baby on my flight, hitting her and just missing the baby."

You can clearly see the mum is upset and some of the female flight attendants ask if she's okay and offer to get her water.

But a male passenger was outraged by what he saw and started demanding to know the name of the guy who allegedly harassed her.

He doesn't cool tensions when the staff member at the centre of the scandal walks back in, and the angry passenger tells him: "Hey bud, you do that to me and I'll knock you flat."

The attendant doesn't hold back and shouts back: "You stay out of this!"

Well clearly that's not good enough for the angry passenger and he gets face to face with the employee, who can be heard saying: "Hit me, come on, hit me. Come on, bring it on."

The attendant claims that no one 'knows what the story is', but from the sounds of things its everyone else's word against his.

American Airlines has released a statement in regards to the incident.

"We have seen the video and have already started an investigation to obtain the facts. What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident.

"We are making sure all of her family's needs are being met while she is in our care. After electing to take another flight, we are taking special care of her and her family and upgrading them to first class for the remainder of their international trip.

"The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions. The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident."

People who watched the video vented their outrage at seeing a mum treated that way. Nancy Ramos says: "Thank you to person who recorded this video, people don't know courtesy, sympathy or manners anymore. It is not okay for an employee to have that reaction."

While Lizzie Bliss says: "It doesn't matter the story. If someone is crying even though you think you're right - YOU APOLOGIZE! Common decency. The woman is crying and English isn't her first language. The fact that the gate agent pointed and yelled at a customer was aggressive. He could have humbly apologized and the issue would have been over but he agitated the situation. Fool."

As mentioned before, it's the latest in a string of incidents on airliners in the US - particularly United.

It's stock market value fell by $770 million in the wake of the Dr David Dao video, which shows him with a bloodied face and saying 'just kill me'.

A second man came forward to say he had previously been threatened with handcuffs, after paying for a first-class ticket, because the flight had been oversold.

In the same week, a report also showed that more pets died under the care of United than any other US airline in 2016.

And just when you thought that wasn't enough of a PR headache - a fucking scorpion fell onto the head of a passenger on the way from Houston to Calgary.
