Lad 'Won £29,000 On Betfred Game' - Now They're Claiming He Won Jack Shit

How's this fair?!

A lad who was under the impression that he'd won over £29,000 on a betting app has been left fuming after they claimed he hadn't won a penny.

24-year-old Jamie Gardiner, from Kirkby, was playing a betting game on his phone on Thursday night when he claims that a message popped up which read: 'Win: £29,466.59'.

Clearly, as anyone would, Jamie thought he was quids in. Just before Christmas too! What a lucky break! Well... not quite. He expected to see the full amount credited to his account, but it didn't show.

After speaking to Betfred, they claim that the sum that came up wasn't a win - it was just the amount he could've won. Jamie says that he's played the 'Land of Gold' game before and won so he knows the score.

Betfred have now withdrawn the game and are taking part in an internal review of what happened.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, he said: "I play all the time and I know when it comes up there it is meant to go straight into your balance.

"I got two mushrooms and three clovers and whenever you get three clovers you are credited with the jackpot.

"I put £100 a week into that site which is taken from my bank account immediately, but they just won't pay out for me. It's like a big kick in the face."

"I would be able to get a mortgage and go on a nice holiday. There is no way this was a potential win and not an actual win.

"People would kill themselves over this."

A Betfred spokesperson responded to his claims, saying: "Unfortunately the customer has not won the jackpot.

"The customer would have needed three four-leaf clovers to land the jackpot and the amounts shown in the 'win" box are what a customer could win and not confirmation.

"However we have withdrawn this game and we have launched a review both internally and with our third party supplier."

Seems very strange. Hopefully Jamie will get the answers he needs after the internal review is completed.
