A woman who stopped to share a burger and a beer with a homeless man is urging others to do the same after the man has been inundated with offers of work and accommodation.

Ayesha Haworth, 38, was on a night out in Cardiff for her mate's birthday last Friday when she spotted rough-sleeper Matt outside a pub, Wales Online reports.

She approached him and spent half an hour chatting to him, and buying him a beer and a burger. She shared her experience on Facebook.

Adding that Matt was a carpenter who 'just needed a chance' and asking if anyone could help. She has since received dozens of messages offering jobs and accommodation for Matt.

She told the paper: "It was my friend's birthday. Everyone was having such a good time and he was just sat there, it broke my heart.

"The story of how he ended up on the street was horrific. I couldn't sleep that night, it was just on my mind.

"The next morning I woke up and wanted to try and help him. I haven't stopped crying."

Since posting a photo of her and Matt alongside a message urging others to 'take 10 minutes just to chat', it's been shared almost 2,000 times and had 4,400 'likes'.

Ayesha followed her original post with an update, saying Matt had been offered 15 jobs and accommodation:

She went on: "Matt said he can go days without talking to people. He said he enjoyed the burger and the beer but just someone taking the time to sit and have a conversation with him was even better."

"There's no money involved, it's about people coming together. That's the best thing about it, it's just an act of kindness."

She added: "It's not going to finish here, I'm going to see what can be done."

What a lovely story.
