Six-Year-Old American Lad Pens Heartbreaking Letter To Little Syrian Boy

Photos of Omran Daqneesh went viral earlier this year.

A little lad has touched the hearts of many after offering a place in his family to a little boy affected by the airstrikes in Syria.

Images of Omran Daqneesh sat in the back of an ambulance after an airstrike in Syria touched many of us.

In the video of Omran, he wipes his head with his hand, looks down and realises it's covered in blood. Instead of reacting, he simply places his hand back down on his lap.

These images clearly affected six-year-old American citizen Alex, as he felt compelled to write a letter to Barack Obama to ask if he could go and pick up Omran and bring him to Alex's home.

The letter states: "Dear President Obama, remember the boy who was picked up by the ambulance in Syria?

"Park in the driveway or on the street and we will be waiting for you guys with flags, flowers, and balloons. We will give him a family and he will be our brother. Catherine, my little sister, will be collecting butterflies and fireflies for him. In my school, I have a friend from Syria, Omar, and I will introduce him to Omar. We can all play together. We can invite him to birthday parties and he will teach us another language. We can teach him English, too, just like my friend, Aoto, from Japan.

"Please tell him that his brother will be Alex who is a very kind boy, just like him. Since he won't bring toys and doesn't have toys, Catherine will share her big blue stripy white bunny. And I will share my bike and I will teach him how to ride it. I will teach him additions and subtractions in math. And he [can] smell Catherine's lip gloss penguin which is green. She doesn't let anyone touch it."

Barack Obama posted a video of Alex reading out his letter to the official presidential Facebook page.

He also quoted Alex's letter to world leaders gathered at this week's United Nations Summit on Refugees, saying: "We should all be more like Alex. Imagine what the world would look like if we were. Imagine the suffering we could ease and the lives we could save."

God bless this little kid; the fact he wanted to help is amazing. Hopefully this letter will resonate with those bombing Omran's home and get them to pack it in.
