Things just keep getting worse and worse. Can 2016 be over already? Perhaps the worst news is that honeymoon period we had with the meal deal could be coming to an end. It was great while it lasted. It was a more special relationship than that of Harry Redknapp and Sandra. A British institution as strong as Ant & Dec. But, like a messy break-up, it could be curtains. The £3 meal deal could be on its way out and I'm going to cry myself to sleep tonight.
The British Sandwich and Food To Go Association (yes, there's such a thing), has warned that a variety of issues are likely to have a profound, life-changing impact on the price of our favourite lunchtime foods.
Apparently, it's got a lot to do with Brexit.

BSA director Jim Winship told trade journal 'The Grocer': "Retailers will absorb some of the increases and suppliers will absorb some but inevitably there will be a rise for consumers.

"It then depends on how retailers decide to play the game."
Apparently, soaring wages, fewer migrant workers and a rise in the cost of many produce materials will all contribute towards the increase of a meal deal.
When it comes into effect, which isn't for a while yet, it could well mean the end of a much-loved British privilege.
Well, I don't know about you but this is all incredibly upsetting so I'm going to go and cry into a chicken and bacon sub.
