The whole world has been mourning the loss of Carrie Fisher after the Star Wars legend died as a result of heart failure earlier this week.
Carrie was most famous for her role as Princess Leia but she also starred in films such as The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally among others.
However, it was the Princess which placed Carrie among the greatest and most influential popular culture symbols in history.
No matter what language you speak, no matter where you are in the world, Princess Leia transcends all meaning and that makes Carrie's death all the more saddening.
The influence of Carrie and Princess Leia was huge and as a result the character has been used as a reference in TV forever.

In this piss-funny scene from the 90/00s sitcom, Ross (David Schwimmer) and Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) are talking about sexual fantasies. Ross admits about Princess Leia and her gold bikini from Return of the Jedi, and things go from there, as you can see.
Elliot And Carla In Scrubs
We love Scrubs, who doesn't? In fact, the recent mention of a possible return of the show has got everyone very excited. One of the reasons that Scrubs is such a classic is that the jokes were always unbelievably good. And here's just one example, with Princess Leia again having an influence in that hairdo of Elliot and Carla.
Liz In 30 Rock
Jury duty is a strange mystery to most people but apparently it can be a bit of a slog. Remember Homer in The Simpsons with his fake glasses? It's a running theme in 30 Rock when Star Wars fanatic Liz Lemon tries to dodge duty by pretending to be a fake Princess Leia.
Seriously, how many characters in films have this sort of wide influence as a reference point. It's a fitting testimony to the phenomenal talent of Carrie in turning Princess Leia into an icon. RIP, Carrie.
