Alcoholic Calippos Are Now A Thing And They Look Amazing

Alcoholic Calippos Are Now A Thing And They Look Amazing

Better than a Twister?

It's nearly summer - in fact, it pretty much feels like it's already here.

Pink men are walking round with vests on, you may see the odd peeling nose and then suddenly, at lunch time, every man and his dog are occupying every blade of grass like a sweaty, half-naked version of Twister.

Summer can be a bit of a ballache. Yeah, we get BBQs, a bit of a tan and light evenings, but there are also sweat patches, wasps and sunburn. Plus, it sucks when you're in work because you have to watch everyone having fun while you're cooped up inside.

Everyone loves a Calippo though, right?

They're nice, cold and juicy, and (if you're into that kind of thing) they don't contain many calories.

The one thing that'd make them better would be if they were alcoholic. Who doesn't love getting pissed in the sunshine?! Answer: no one.

A company called Lapp has brought out a new range of 'Poptails', which (as the name suggests) is an ice-pop/cocktail combo.

As you can see from the image above, they've got a variety of alcohol infused ice-pops available: Strawberry Mojito (rum, strawberry, mint), Limon Colada (limoncello, lemon, coconut water), Tropic Punch (rum, mango, pineapple), Peach Bellini (Prosecco and peach purée) and Melon Spitz (Aperol, melon purée and orange juice).

They also have a non-alcoholic version called Berry Berry which is watermelon juice, raspberries and strawberry purée.

The idea came from two women named Cécilia and Laura. Originally from France, the pair now reside in London.

Speaking to Konbini, Cécilia said: "I was working in marketing and had to come up with a new project for a vodka brand. I learnt how to make ice lollies myself - I bought all the materials and I got started. After meeting my roommate Laura, we started to propose them to London street food markets. When we saw that it was starting to catch on, we decided to quit our jobs and launch Lapp!"

They also offer 'customised Poptails'. On their website, they write: "Got a Poptail idea in mind? Flavours, alcohol or shape, we can personalise everything! Do not hesitate to get in touch and tell us more about your perfect Poptail."

So far, you can only get them from London or Paris, but you can also order online - take a look here. And get me a Peach Bellini one while you're at it.
