Burger King Granted Permission To Sell Alcohol For First Time In The UK

Beer and a burger!

I've always preferred Burger King to McDonald's and now they're giving me even more reason to go to them for my fast food needs as they've been granted permission to sell alcohol with their burgers for the first time in the UK.

Lambeth Council have granted the restaurant chain's Waterloo Station branch permission to sell booze but nothing stronger than 5% and can only be served between 11am and 8pm.

It also has to be drunk on the premises.

The council also expect Burger King to include better staff training, increase their record keeping, have more CCTV and increase management supervision.

Burger King reportedly hope if they can prove they can responsibly sell alcohol in this branch, then they will be allowed to roll out the new service across the UK.

Apparently Westminster Council have turned down an application for alcohol to be served at Victoria and Paddington stations in London after strong opposition from police.

Surely with that first branch being given permission, the rest will follow suit eventually?

Beer with my XL Bacon Double Cheeseburger? Yes, please.
