McDonald's have been trying all sorts recently in an attempt to ramp up supposedly falling profits but their latest idea may well top the lot.

All-day breakfasts have proven a success, one franchise owner wants to introduce all-you-can-eat fries while the revamp of the Big Mac could also see interest in what McDonald's has to offer peak again.

They're all grand ideas but the idea that has really got people talking is 'Gilroy Garlic Fries'. Garlic fries at McDonald's. Say what you like about Maccies but their fries have and always will be spectacular. Add to that garlic and you've got yourself a winner.

According to Time magazine, the fries are being trialed at four restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area and in a press release, the fast food chain said:

"The new fries are made-to-order in McDonald's kitchens where restaurant employees toss French fries in stainless steel bowls with a purée mix that includes ingredients, such as chopped Gilroy garlic and olive oil, parmesan cheese, parsley and a pinch of salt.

"The garlic fries are part of a trend at McDonald's to experiment with regional flavors and food on its menu."

Naturally, announcements like this, no matter where they are in the world, get people excited that McDonald's could roll out these ideas closer to home...

Apparently all the garlic used for the new 'Gilroy Garlic Fries' will be grown in Gilroy, California, and if the trial is successful, then the chain will look to roll it out to 250 restaurants in San Francisco.

And just for anyone interested, Gilroy is nicknamed 'The Garlic Capital Of The World' and is about two hours drive from San Francisco, hence why they;re trying this our there first.

Who else wants these to go global? Imagine tucking into all-you-can-eat garlic fries on a hangover. Yeah. That.
