McDonald's Has Just Hinted That It Might Start Delivering In The UK

Game changer.

How many times have you been lying in bed, close to death from a hangover and thought: 'why don't McDonald's deliver, for fuck's sake?' I'm going to say more than once.

Well, good news folks, because now the fast-food giant has hinted that it might be offering a delivery service to its five biggest markets - the UK (yay), US, Canada, Germany and France.

Lucky bastards in China and Singapore can already have their Big Mac's brought straight to their door and following on from that the company announced that demand for delivery has "created an exceptional opportunity for growth."

Adding: "Because of our extraordinary footprint, McDonald's is uniquely positioned to become the global leader in delivery."

And if you're worried that your food will be cold if you get it delivered, then let this fun fact from Maccie's HQ put your mind at rest - almost 75 percent of people in the top five markets mentioned above live less than three miles from some Golden Arches.

The statement continued: "One of the most significant disruptions in the restaurant business today is the rapid increase in delivery. Through technology, delivery has changed the way customers order, pay, track and receive food and provide feedback.

"Coupled with the explosive growth in third-party delivery companies, the landscape has created an exceptional opportunity for growth."

The company is testing the use of delivery companies, including Uber, to make sure that food arrives quickly.

Delivery is proving to be a very popular choice with customers and is therefore proving very good business.

McDonald's said: "McDonald's is already one of the largest providers of delivered food in the world, with annual Systemwide delivery sales of nearly $1 billion across various markets including China, South Korea and Singapore.

"China has tripled its delivery business since its launch in 2008. In 2016 alone, China's delivery business grew 30 percent."

Well of course, who would ever go through the drive-thru when you can make the drive-thru come to you. Lucky China.

As well as getting home delivery, our friends over in China can also order some pretty interesting stuff, which you can't get over here.

Extra additions on the Chinese menu include a chicken muffin, which actually looks decent, and a fish muffin, which absolutely does not.

Perhaps the weirdest thing on there is this:

Yeah, that's a chocolate cheese tart. Mmm. 'Savour and enjoy the taste of rich chocolate and melted cheese with every bite' the menu threatens. It's a no from me, guys.

They also sell 'twisty pasta', which is served with vegetables, egg and sometimes chicken and looks like nothing you'd ever expect a McDonald's to sell.

Over in Singapore you can get a breakfast that looks like this and it makes me think we're really missing out:

And, in South Korea you can get this wonderful thing delivered to your door:

So, as well as delivery I also want massive Mega Macs and breakfasts that look like they would actually fill you up (for 10 minutes). I'm starving now.
