Maybe he should've gone as a headcrab or something...

A gamer caused a bit of a fuss at Birmingham Airport after walking through dressed all in black and holding a fake gun and ammunition.

The cosplayer clearly didn't realise that he'd done anything wrong as he reportedly looked 'scared to death' after being approached by four armed police officers who were carrying actual, real-life guns.

A passer-by told Birmingham Mail: "The poor lad looked scared to death."

While gaming journalist, Kyle Evans, told the paper: "Well done to the cops for getting on it, they did a good job.

"The guy was wearing a helmet and was in blacked-out clothes with magazine-type holders round his waist and a gun which looked fairly realistic.

"He looked very sorry and worried."

Evans said that the man was approached by four armed police officers and one non-armed. He added that they looked 'quite annoyed'. Understandable.

Twitter user JustJamieHDG wrote: "Dude I was right next to him when it happened..... utter disrespect to the staff there.... the poor lad was scared to death!!!"

It looks like the young man was heading to Insomnia - the UK's biggest gaming festival. Maybe next time he'll dress up as a headcrab or something.

Anyway, we spoke to Andy Smith, Events Director for Insomnia Gaming Festival, who told LADbible: "Insomnia is the UK's largest Gaming Festival, covering all aspects of gaming culture, with the large BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) community at the heart of the event since the first nearly 20 years ago."

When asked about the cosplaying kid, James Williams, Senior Event Manager for Insomnia Gaming Festival, said: "Obviously security is a major concern of ours and the world, and it is good to see that airport security is vigilant, maybe too much at this time.

"It's great to see that we are attracting truly world class cosplayers to our events but we'd suggest they change at the venue, particularly if they have fake weapons, rather than before."

If you fancy going to the next one, appropriately dressed of course, you can go on the 25-28 August at The NEC in Birmingham.
